The quality inspection technology and standards for stainless steel forgings in the era of intelligent manufacturing.

With the development of intelligent manufacturing technology, the quality inspection technology and standards of stainless steel forgings are also constantly updated and improved. Currently, stainless steel forgings in industries such as electronics, machinery, and automobiles have become critical components, and their quality directly affects the production efficiency, quality, and safety of the entire product. Therefore, the quality inspection of stainless steel forgings has become particularly important.

In terms of national policy, in January 2016, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology issued “Specifications for Quality Management System of Manufacturing Industry”, which clearly proposed to strengthen product quality control, adopt traceable management and whole-process control methods. At the same time, the “Several Policies to Support Rural Revitalization” released in October 2018 proposed to accelerate the transformation and upgrading of traditional industries, promote the upgrade and replacement of manufacturing industry, cultivate strategic emerging industries such as new generation of information technology, intelligent manufacturing, high-end equipment manufacturing, and bio-medicine.

In terms of stainless steel forging quality inspection technology, traditional methods such as X-ray flaw detection, ultrasonic flaw detection, hydraulic pressure testing, and magnetic particle flaw detection are still mainstream, but with the rise of new technologies such as machine learning and artificial intelligence, their applications in stainless steel forging quality inspection have also been further developed. For example, defect automatic identification systems developed using artificial intelligence technology can perform comprehensive and rapid defect detection and analysis on stainless steel forgings. In addition, 3D printing technology can also be used to manufacture more precise and complex stainless steel forgings.

In terms of standards for stainless steel forging quality inspection, in December 2019, the National Standardization Committee issued “General requirements and methods for defect detection of forgings” (GB/T 32141-2019), which specifies the inspection methods and standard requirements for different types of forgings. Meanwhile, various regions have also promulgated corresponding standards and policies to regulate the production and quality management of stainless steel forgings.

In summary, the quality inspection technology and standards for stainless steel forgings in the era of intelligent manufacturing are undergoing rapid development and improvement. With the advancement of science and technology and the promotion of policies, China’s stainless steel forging industry will usher in broader development prospects.
