Efficiency analysis of common motors in electric screw press industry

Switching reluctance, stepper motor and servo motor are common motor types, and the efficiency analysis between them is as follows:

Switched reluctance: A switched reluctance motor is a type of motor that uses a controllable reluctance device (such as a permanent magnet or a magnetorheological device) for speed regulation. Since switched reluctance motors do not have permanent magnets, their efficiency is relatively low. In general, the peak efficiency of switched reluctance motors is between 70% and 80%, depending on the operating point, control strategy, and the characteristics of the reluctance device.

Stepper motor: Stepper motor is a commonly used digital control motor, and its operation principle is to drive the motor to rotate through a specific electrical pulse signal. The efficiency of the stepper motor is relatively high, generally reaching 80% to 90%. However, stepper motors can have out-of-step problems, which can affect their efficiency and accuracy.

Servo motor: Servo motor is a closed-loop control motor that can adjust the position, speed and torque according to the control signal. Servo motors usually have high efficiency, which can generally reach more than 85% to 95%. Its high efficiency is mainly due to its closed-loop control system, which can precisely adjust the torque and speed of the motor, thereby improving energy efficiency.

It should be noted that the above efficiency range is for reference only, and the actual efficiency will also be affected by factors such as motor design, quality, and working conditions. In the specific application, the selection of the appropriate motor type should consider the efficiency, cost, control performance and other factors.
