Mechanical performance testing and evaluation methods of shaft forgings usually include the following aspects: 1. Strength test: mainly through the tensile test of the material to measure the strength of the forging. In the test process, the maximum load, the broken area and other parameters are recorded, and the yield strength and tensile strength of the forging are calculated. 2. Hardness test: Hardness test is an important means to evaluate the wear resistance and deformation resistance of forgings. Commonly used hardness testing methods include Brinell hardness, Rockwell hardness and Vickers hardness. Hardness indicators can be determined by indentation or penetration testing of forgings under specific test conditions. 3. Impact toughness test: the ability of forgings to resist cracking when subjected to impact loads is a key indicator to evaluate their safety and reliability. The commonly used test methods for impact toughness include impact test and notch impact test, which can evaluate the impact resistance of forgings by measuring their fracture characteristics under impact load. 4. Metallographic observation: Metallographic observation is an important means to evaluate the microstructure of forgings. Through macroscopic and microscopic metallographic observation of steel forgings, we can know the grain structure, inclusions distribution and microstructure changes in different heat treatment states of steel forgings, and then evaluate their mechanical properties. 5. Fatigue life test: Fatigue life test is a key means to evaluate the fatigue resistance of forging. The fatigue curve and fatigue limit of forgings can be obtained by carrying out alternating load test within the predetermined load range, so as to evaluate their service life under actual service conditions. In addition to the above several commonly used mechanical properties test methods, there are some other special test methods, such as temperature creep test, cooling shrinkage test, etc., can be selected according to the actual needs of the appropriate test method for the mechanical properties of forging evaluation.
