The application of new materials and new technologies in stainless steel forgings in the military industry.

Stainless steel forgings are one of the essential key components in the military industry, and optimizing their materials and technology is an important guarantee to improve the performance of military equipment and achieve modernization of national defense. Driven by national policies, China has made some progress and breakthroughs in the application of new materials and technologies in stainless steel forgings.

Taking the aviation sector as an example, various stainless steel forgings have been adopted in China’s independently developed C919 large passenger aircraft. These forgings not only have highly complex shapes and dimensions, but also have extremely strict performance requirements. In this project, China’s stainless steel material production enterprises adhere to the high-end route, with 3-4 types and duplex stainless steel as their main products, successfully applied to the forging materials of C919 aircraft, ensuring the structural strength and corrosion resistance of the aircraft, and improving its safety and operating life.

In addition, in the military industry, China is actively promoting new technologies, such as fiber optic laser welding, electron beam welding, and other technical means, which can better ensure the quality and performance of materials, as well as reduce process pollution and environmental impact. In the manufacturing of stainless steel forgings, these new technologies have been widely used in the production of military products, resulting in increased strength, toughness, and corrosion resistance of the materials.

At the same time, the country is also increasing policy support, issuing a series of policies to promote innovation and development in the production of stainless steel forgings. In 2016, the State Council Office issued the “Guiding Opinions on Printing and Distributing ‘Made in China 2025′” which proposed to accelerate the development of key areas of equipment manufacture, including aerospace and other military industries. The policy aims to strengthen breakthroughs and control of core technologies and key components, promote the application of new materials and new technologies for stainless steel forgings, enhance China’s modernization level in the military industry, and build a world-class military equipment manufacturing system.

In summary, the application of new materials and new technologies in stainless steel forgings in the military industry is essential, and policy support and encouragement are also indispensable. China has made great progress in material and technology research and development and application, but still needs to further strengthen the production and development of basic materials, promote the application of new technologies, and improve supporting testing methods to achieve technological innovation in national defense equipment and a virtuous cycle of economic development.
